BioSherpa™ STS grew a nutritionally variant Streptococcus
BioSherpa
™ STS
grew nutritionally variant Streptococcus while the patient was on broad spectrum antibiotics
Nutritionally variant Streptococci are not typically able to be isolated using standard media and can be missed as a cause of pneumonia. In this example, Granulicatella, a pathogenic nutritionally-variant Streptococcus was easily isolated using BioSherpa™ STS (bottom) while the control sample grew none. We suspect that a component of BioSherpa™ STS provides the requisite nutrient to support growth.
